    The only way to install the selector knob.
    The tabs break easily when forced.
    I will try to explain it to you the best I can.
    First make sure the meter is in the off position. You can turn the selector all the way to the left with a screwdriver.
    It is next to impossible to install the selector knob without removing the front cover. You will probably break one of the tabs if you try it.
    To remove the front cover from the meter. Remove the top and bottom screws on the back of the meter. You don't have to remove the battery cover.
    The front cover will lift off the meter. Be careful that the white selector disk does not fall out. It has a couple of springs and ball bearings on it.
    Once you have the cover off hold your finger on the back of the white disk and line up the spot on the selector knob with the OFF position on the meter and gently push the tabs into the slots on the white disk. Very little force is required.
    Make sure if you have buttons on the meter so that they line up with the slots on the front cover and install the cover.
    Then you should be good to go.
